One Day - One City - One Architect

One Day - One City - One Architect / 3 Films
1. Tokyo: Ryue Nishizawa (90 min - English Subtitles)
2. Mumbai: Bijoy Jain (97 min - English Subtitles)
3. Bangkok: Boonserm Premthada (93 min - English Subtitles)
More than classical portraits of three of today’s most talented and celebrated architects, these films offer, in all their spontaneity, the experience of a friendly urban drift in Tokyo, Mumbai and Bangkok.
In "Tokyo Ride", Ryue Nishizawa recounts his deep connection with his hometown as he drives through Tokyo, revisiting sites to which he feels personally attached — buildings that have shaped him and his own architectural creations.
"The Sense of Tuning" portrays architect Bijoy Jain of Studio Mumbai like a swiftly drawn sketch, captured in the vibrancy of movement and the immediacy of the moment. Conceived as a performative cinematic experience, the film reveals the alchemy between Bijoy Jain and Bêka & Lemoine — twelve hours of intense wandering that immerse us in the vital energy of Mumbai’s streets.
In "Big Ears Listen with Feet" Bêka & Lemoine take us on a frenetic one-day journey through the chaotic concrete jungle of Bangkok. Guided by the moving personal story of Boonserm Premthada, one of Thailand’s most influential contemporary architects, the film unfolds as a free wander, punctuated by striking encounters, events, and places that have shaped Premthada’s distinctive identity and sensibility.
The series "One" brings together three of Bêka & Lemoine’s most significant films — "Tokyo Ride", "The Sense of Tuning", and "Big Ears Listen with Feet" — for a total of over four and a half hours of cinema.
"Tokyo Ride" (90 min) - with Ryue Nishizawa and Kazuyo Sejima
"The Sense of Tuning" (97) with Bijoy Jain - Studio Mumbai
"Big Ears Listen with Feet" (93 min) with Boonserm Premthada

THE SENSE OF TUNING

“A hand to hand with the tropical heat and the endless means of transport of Bangkok that makes this film very physical, just like the space is for Boonserm Premthada. A film to listen less with the ears or watch with the eyes but more to feel with the body.” Esquire
“This incredible film tells how disability leads an architect to listen and feel space in a different way, learning from elephants that “despite their large ears they perceive sound with their feet through the vibrations of the ground”. ArchDaily

  • The Sense of Tuning

The Sense of Tuning is a portrait of the architect Bijoy Jain of Studio Mumbai, conceived like a sketch made on the fly, captured in the vibrancy of movement and of the moment.

Nothing of a hagiographic portrait giving a fixed image of the man and his work, the film explores the fragile, precio...

  • Big Ears Listen with Feet

Acclaimed artist-filmmakers Bêka & Lemoine take us to Bangkok on a one day hectic journey through the chaotic concrete jungle of the South-Asian megacity. • Tokyo Ride

After the multi awarded “Moriyama-San”, “Tokyo Ride” is a new step of Bêka & Lemoine’s immersion within Tokyo’s busy daily life.
